About my pet portraits:
Typically for pet portraits, I work with Acrylics on a cradled wood panel. I am also able to work with oils, though I recommend acrylic on wood panel, as I can complete it much quicker (oils take weeks to dry), and it is sturdier to ship. Acrylic on wood will be the default assumption as you fill out the form, unless you state otherwise! If timeline is not important to you, and you would like me to work with oil paint instead, please reach out for a quote (as they tend to be more expensive.
Pet Portrait Pricing:
My portraits are on a size-based pricing scale, and complexity of the animal's pattern may also come into play.
If you would like a different size, or would like it with oil/canvas instead of acrylic/wood, please let me know in the "anything else" section of the form!
Shipping
If you are local (Phoenix, Arizona area) we can arrange a pickup at one of my events that I attend. If no events are happening in the correct timeframe, I can ship the portrait to you for the cost of shipping, which will be quoted to you after the size is decided.
The Process
So how does it all work?
If you are interested in a pet portrait, simply submit the form above! Once you do that, you can expect an email from me within a week (usually faster). It is over email that we will finalize details and solidify the price and the timeline.
Once those are all decided, I will send you a contract to sign, as well as an invoice. I require half payment up front, and half upon completion. Once all the technical stuff is out of the way, I will begin painting!
Generally I will use a photo you send as the basic outline/pose for your pet. I will send you a sketch before I begin painting to ensure it is what you are envisioning, and then from there I will start with the paint!
I am happy to send you work-in-progress pictures if you'd like! Though I always like to warn people, it tends to look bad/scary until it doesn't ;) Once the painting is finished, I will send you a picture for approval, and will ship it from there!
Timeline: Depending on the size and complexity, I can finish a pet portrait within a week, to a month or several. I travel for my other job, so there are some times I am not physically home to work on the portrait, which is why we decide the timeline/date needed by beforehand :)
FAQ
Why do I need to sign a contract?
Signing a contract protects both me and yourself! It helps to lay out all expectations for how the process will/should go, and what happens if certain circumstances arise.
Can you do rush orders if I need it quickly?
I potentially can, depending on how many orders I have/my schedule! There will be a fee ranging anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on how quickly it is needed.
Can you do multiple animals in one picture?
I don't' typically add multiple animals to one picture -- for me, I find that it can get quite busy and seem crowded. However, I will occasionally make exceptions so feel free to ask!
Will you paint the whole body of the animal?
Rarely. :) I find my paintings truly shine when I get to focus on the animal's face, and so I tend to stick only to their face/upper body.
