UNAPOLOGETICALLY UNBRANDED ART
News!
PHx Pride's Call to Artists
This year, my piece won first place in PHX Pride's Call to Artists for 2024!
The piece is titled "Not a Picky Eater" and is a set of three acrylic paintings on wood.
I wanted to create a playful expression of pansexuality by using fruit euphemisms, and used my own hands as a model for the paintings :)

Amphi's Artist Journey
It's difficult to say when I started my artist journey-- I think it likely started before I was even a spark on this earth and in this life :) I began with oil painting and water color, and then fell heavily into digital art. I’ve since rediscovered my love for oil painting, and enjoy delving into new mediums and styles.
For quite some time, I struggled with my dream to have art be the thing that got me through capitalism (aka, be my job). Every time I tried to start up anything truly official I got discouraged, unable to find my 'true style' -- or my 'brand'. My style and focus seemed to change as quickly as a summer’s monsoon, as did my subjects and mediums. Am I an oil painter who invokes abstracts? A digital artist who crafts photomanipulations? An illustrator who’s fallen in love with heavy lines? (Even a sculptor?) With the hard-won acceptance that I don't have to define myself definitely and choose only one single trail, I feel free to finally shine and grow within myself and the world of art! And I'm full heartedly embracing Amphi Studio's official tagline:
"Unapologetically unbranded art."
Because we are artists, and we aren't a brand. I believe that creativity by it's nature does not need to fit into once single idea or form. So with that said, you won't see a cohesive style or feel among my art. What you will see is the creations of a person who has finally allowed herself the freedom to explore.
Though admittedly, all of my art shares a common vein— it is all inspired by nature and fueled by emotion.
I grew up in the oppressively hot deserts of the Southwest, and I find pride in my inhabitable, gorgeous home. It has helped me to sharpen my artistic eye -- the desert is not an obvious beauty, you have to work for it-- and find the gorgeous details in the jagged stones, the riots of color in the hidden lichen; appreciate the momentary wild beauty of the palo verde blooms, the illuminating sound of coyotes dancing in the rain. The desert is a textured beauty, and that's something I like to express in my art with hidden brushstrokes, and buried meaning and messages. But that is what I personally find within my art-- what matters is what you find within it, and what it means to you. :)
